“Titli” cyclonic wave to hit Odisha and Andhra coasts near Gopalpur and Kalingapatnam. It is strengthening and was expected to fall on thursday, oct 11. ‘TITLI’ lay centered 460-510 Kms off AndhraPradesh – Odisha Coast.
Experts saying the Cyclone will bring dangerous weather for some parts of India and Bangladesh. Heavy rainfall areas include Visakhapatnam, Brahmapur, Puri, Kharagpur and Kolkata.
Indian Meteorological Department – IMD issues Red alert in Odisha. Dy Special relief commissioner said that nearly 300 motor boats are kept ready for rescue operations as precautionary.
Odisha government issued strong warning to Ganjam, Khurda and Puri districts. CM Naveen Patnaik ordered collectors to make necessary arrangements to shift people in coastal region.
The cyclone was located at 530 km southeast of Gopalpur in Odisha and 480 km east-southeast of Kalingapatnam in Andhra Pradesh. The wind speed gradually increased to 80-90 kmph and will reach 100 kmph.
Schools, colleges shut in Odisha as cyclonic storm Titli approaches coast. The Odisha government has ordered the closure of all schools, colleges and Anganwadi centres till October 10-11 in four districts of the state as a precautionary measure against Cyclone Titli.
